Days Worked Per Year Calculator
Choose the days of the week you work and a year to count your scheduled workdays, then take off holidays and time off to see the days you actually work and are paid for.
Days Worked Per Year Calculator calculates in your browser.
Count the days you work in a year
“Working days in a year” gets quoted as 260, 261, or 365 depending on who is asking, because those are three different counts. Calendar days are every day; weekdays are Monday to Friday; your scheduled workdays are the days you are actually rostered, which may include Saturdays or leave out Fridays. This calculator counts each one from the real calendar for the year you choose — so leap years and the year’s extra day are handled — then takes out the holidays and time off you enter to give the days you actually work and the days you are paid for.
How to use the Days Worked Per Year Calculator
- Keep “A calendar year” selected and enter a year, or leave it blank for this year.
- Tick the days of the week you work. Monday to Friday is ticked to start.
- Enter the paid holidays that fall on your work days, your paid vacation or PTO days, and any unpaid days off.
- Read the days actually worked, the scheduled workdays, the paid days, and — for comparison — the year’s weekdays and calendar days.
- For a rotating or seasonal schedule, choose “Days per week × weeks” to estimate instead.
How the days are counted
Each weekday occurs 52 times; the year’s first weekday (and second, in a leap year) occurs 53
Scheduled workdays = the occurrences of each day you work, added up
Days worked = scheduled − holidays − paid time off − unpaid days
Paid days = scheduled − unpaid days
2028 is a leap year but has only 260 weekdays, because its two extra days are a Saturday and a Sunday; 2032 gets two extra weekdays, a Thursday and a Friday, for 262. That is why a single “working days per year” figure is only ever right for some years.
| Work week | Year | Calendar days | Weekdays | Scheduled | Worked |

| Monday–Friday | 2032 (leap year) | 366 days | 262 days | 262 days | 262 days |
| Monday–Saturday | 2026 | 365 days | 261 days | 313 days | 313 days |
| Monday–Friday, 10 holidays + 15 PTO days | 2026 | 365 days | 261 days | 261 days | 236 days |
Calculated on your device
- The days are counted in your browser as you type; nothing is sent to a server.
- Your schedule, days off, and results are not sent to Looty Tools or stored.
- The calculator area is masked from session-recording analytics, so what you enter isn’t captured in recordings.
Limitations
- It doesn’t include a public-holiday calendar — holidays vary by country, region, and employer — so enter only the holidays that land on days you would otherwise work.
- It counts whole days. Half days and partial shifts can be entered as decimals in the time-off boxes.
- It counts a full calendar year (January 1 to December 31). For a start date partway through a year, the Days Between Dates Calculator counts days between any two dates.
- Whether a holiday or day off is paid is your input; the calculator doesn’t decide it.

Days Worked Per Year Calculator FAQ
- How many working days are in a year?
- A Monday-to-Friday year has 260, 261, or 262 weekdays before holidays. 2026 and 2027 have 261, 2028 has 260, and 2032 has 262. Taking out 10 paid holidays and 15 vacation days leaves 236 days actually worked in 2026.
- Why does the number of weekdays change from year to year?
- 52 weeks is 364 days, so a year has one extra day (two in a leap year). Each weekday occurs 52 times, and the extra days make the year’s first weekday — and in a leap year the next one too — occur 53 times. If those extra days are weekdays, the year has 261 or 262.
- What is the difference between calendar days, weekdays, and workdays?
- Calendar days are every day of the year (365 or 366). Weekdays are Monday to Friday. Workdays are the days you are scheduled to work — the same as weekdays for a Monday-to-Friday job, but 313 in 2026 for a Monday-to-Saturday job. Days actually worked are workdays minus holidays and time off.
- Does it know the public holidays?
- No. Holidays depend on the country, the region, and the employer, so enter the number of holidays that fall on days you would otherwise work. A holiday on a Saturday doesn’t reduce a Monday-to-Friday schedule.
- Should I use the calendar year or the days-per-week estimate?
- Use the calendar year when you know which weekdays you work — it counts the real days. The estimate (days per week × weeks) suits rotating or seasonal schedules; 5 days × 52 weeks is 260, one or two short of most years.
- Are the hours and dates I enter sent anywhere?
- No. The calculation runs in your browser as you type. Your hours, dates, and results are not sent to Looty Tools or stored, and the calculator area is masked from session-recording analytics. Refreshing the page clears it.
