WebP to JPG processes files locally in your browser.
What WebP to JPG conversion does
Convert a WebP image into JPG when a site, email client, or device expects the older still-image format. Processing stays in your browser, and you can tune JPEG quality before download.
This dedicated tool is for WebP → JPG only. For other pairs, use the related converters or the general Image Converter.
How to convert WebP to JPG
- Choose a .webp file.
- Adjust JPEG quality if needed.
- Select Convert & download.
- Save the .jpg file from your browser downloads.
Why convert WebP to JPG
WebP is common on the modern web, but some older apps and workflows still require JPG. Converting first avoids “unsupported format” errors when sharing still images.
What happens to transparency
Before JPEG encoding, the canvas is filled with white, then the WebP is drawn on top. Soft edges and partial alpha blend against that white background because JPEG has no alpha channel.
JPEG quality settings
The quality slider defaults to 90%. Lower values usually shrink the file and can introduce compression artifacts. A smaller JPG is not guaranteed for every WebP.
Animated WebP limitations
Animated WebP files are accepted, but only the first frame is converted to JPG. Animation is not preserved because JPEG is a still-image format.
Privacy and local processing
- Processing occurs locally in the browser.
- Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools for conversion.
- Converted images remain on your device.
Limits and browser support
- Inputs: WebP only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
- Files must look like real WebP (RIFF/WEBP signature) and decode successfully. Renamed or corrupted files fail safely.
- Animated WebP: first frame only. Animation is not preserved.
- Metadata is not preserved. Orientation depends on browser decoding via createImageBitmap.

WebP to JPG FAQ
- Does JPG support transparency?
- No. Transparent or semi-transparent WebP pixels are flattened onto a white background before JPEG encoding.
- Will the JPG be smaller?
- Often for photographs, but not always. File size depends on the image and the JPEG quality setting. This tool does not guarantee a smaller file.
- Can animated WebP be converted?
- Yes, but only the first frame becomes a JPG. Animation is not preserved because JPEG is a still-image format.
- Are images uploaded?
- No. WebP to JPG conversion runs locally in your browser and does not upload your image to Looty Tools servers.
- Can I adjust quality?
- Yes. Use the JPEG quality slider before converting. Values range from 50% to 100% (default 90%).
- Why did my WebP fail to decode?
- The file must look like a real WebP (RIFF/WEBP signature) and decode successfully in your browser. Renamed, corrupted, or unsupported WebP variants fail safely.
