Image Converter processes files locally in your browser.
What the Image Converter does
Convert iPhone HEIC photos and other supported image files to JPEG or PNG without uploading them to a server. Your files are processed locally in your browser.
Use it when you need a widely compatible download format for sharing, uploading to websites that reject HEIC, or saving a PNG with transparency when the source supports it.
How to convert an image
- Choose a supported image file.
- Select JPEG or PNG as the output format.
- Select Convert & download.
- Save the converted image from your browser download.
Supported input and output formats
- Inputs: HEIC, HEIF, WEBP, AVIF, TIF, TIFF, BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG.
- Outputs: JPEG and PNG.
- Some formats depend on browser decoding support and may fail on older browsers.
HEIC versus JPEG and PNG
HEIC/HEIF is common on iPhones and can be smaller than JPEG at similar visual quality, but many websites and apps still expect JPEG or PNG. JPEG is a good default for photos. PNG is better when you need lossless pixels or transparency.
Privacy and browser-only processing
- Processing occurs locally in the browser.
- Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools for conversion.
- Converted images remain on your device.
File limits and known limitations
- Supported inputs include HEIC, HEIF, WEBP, AVIF, TIF, TIFF, BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG. Output formats are JPEG and PNG.
- Browser support varies for HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, and TIFF. If a format fails, try another browser or file.
- Very large images may use significant browser memory.
- Only one image can be converted at a time.

Image Converter FAQ
- Can I convert HEIC to JPEG?
- Yes. Choose a HEIC or HEIF file, select JPEG as the output format, then select Convert & download. Conversion runs locally in your browser.
- Can I convert HEIC to PNG?
- Yes. Select PNG as the output format before converting. PNG is useful when you need a lossless result or an alpha channel from a source that has transparency.
- Are images uploaded?
- No. Image Converter processes files locally in your browser. Your image is not uploaded to Looty Tools servers for conversion.
- Does conversion preserve transparency?
- PNG output can keep transparency when the source image has an alpha channel and your browser can decode it. JPEG does not support transparency; transparent areas are flattened onto an opaque background.
- Which format should I choose?
- Choose JPEG for smaller photos and everyday sharing. Choose PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency. Both options are available in the tool.
- Is image quality reduced?
- JPEG uses lossy compression, so some quality may be reduced compared with the original. PNG is lossless for the decoded pixel data. Re-encoding an already compressed JPEG as JPEG can also introduce additional compression artifacts.
- Does it work on iPhone, Mac, and Windows?
- Yes, in a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. Some formats (especially HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, or TIFF) depend on browser decoding support and may fail on older browsers.
