HEIC to PNG Converter
Convert HEIC and HEIF photos to PNG directly in your browser.
HEIC to PNG processes files locally in your browser.
What HEIC to PNG conversion does
Convert iPhone HEIC and HEIF photos into PNG for editing workflows and software that prefer lossless stills. Processing uses the existing browser HEIC decoder and stays on your device.
Use HEIC to JPG when you need broad sharing compatibility, or this tool when PNG is the target format.
How to convert HEIC to PNG
- Choose a .heic or .heif file.
- Select Convert & download.
- Save the .png file (or ZIP for multi-image HEIC) from your downloads.
PNG transparency and lossless encoding
PNG can store alpha. When the HEIC decoder supplies transparency, this tool does not paint a white background, so alpha can remain in the PNG. There is no quality slider because PNG encoding here is not lossy JPEG-style compression.
HEIC compatibility
Decoding uses the same HEIC path as other Looty Tools HEIC converters. Unusual variants or older browsers may fail even when the file opens on an iPhone.
File-size implications
Photographic PNGs are often much larger than the source HEIC because PNG stores decoded pixels losslessly. Dimensions stay the same unless a limit is exceeded.
Orientation and multi-image limitations
Orientation depends on the HEIC decode path and browser image handling; EXIF metadata is not preserved in the PNG. Multi-image HEIC containers download as multiple PNG files or a ZIP—the same multi-frame behavior used by HEIC to JPG.
Privacy and local processing
- Processing occurs locally in the browser.
- Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools for conversion.
- Converted images remain on your device.
Limits
- Inputs: HEIC and HEIF only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
- Files must look like HEIC/HEIF containers and decode through the existing HEIC decoder. Renamed or corrupted files fail safely.
- Multi-image HEIC may download as multiple PNGs or a ZIP.
- Metadata is not preserved. Orientation is browser/decoder dependent.

HEIC to PNG FAQ
- Can I convert HEIF files?
- Yes. Both .heic and .heif inputs are accepted when the container looks like HEIC/HEIF and the existing browser HEIC decoder can read them.
- Does PNG preserve transparency?
- When the HEIC decoder supplies alpha, PNG keeps it. This tool does not paint a white background because PNG supports transparency.
- Why may the PNG be much larger?
- PNG stores decoded pixels losslessly. Photographic HEIC files often become larger after conversion even when dimensions stay the same.
- Are photos uploaded?
- No. HEIC to PNG conversion runs locally in your browser and does not upload your photo to Looty Tools servers.
- Is metadata preserved?
- No. EXIF and other metadata are not copied into the PNG. Orientation may still look upright when decoding applies EXIF orientation.
- Why can’t the browser decode my HEIC file?
- Decoding uses the existing HEIC decoder (heic2any). Unusual variants, corrupted files, or older browsers may fail. Renamed non-HEIC files are rejected after a container check.
