Animation limitations

Animated AVIF converts only the first decodable frame to PNG. Animation is not preserved.

Limits

• Inputs: AVIF only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.

• Metadata is not preserved. Browser support varies.

Do all browsers support AVIF?

No. AVIF decoding varies by browser. If decoding fails, the tool shows a clear compatibility message and does not download a file or count usage.

Does PNG keep AVIF transparency?

When the decoded AVIF frame includes an alpha channel, PNG output keeps those transparent pixels. This tool does not flatten onto white.

Is animation preserved?

No. Animated AVIF converts only the first decodable frame to PNG. Animation is not supported.

Are images uploaded?

No. AVIF to PNG runs locally in your browser and does not upload your image to Looty Tools servers.

Will PNG be smaller than AVIF?

Usually not for photographs. PNG stores decoded pixels losslessly and is often larger. Size depends on the image.
