WebP to PNG processes files locally in your browser.
What WebP to PNG conversion does
Convert a WebP still into PNG for editors and workflows that prefer PNG. Decoded transparency is kept when present.
PNG is not promised to be smaller than WebP.
How to convert WebP to PNG
- Choose a .webp file.
- Select Convert & download.
- Save the .png file from your downloads.
Why convert WebP to PNG
Some design tools, print workflows, and upload forms still expect PNG even when the source asset was delivered as WebP.
Transparency preservation
This tool does not flatten onto white. When the decoded WebP has alpha, PNG can keep it.
Animated WebP limitation
Animated WebP files are accepted, but only the first frame becomes a PNG. Animation is not preserved and multiple frames are not extracted.
Why PNG files may be larger
PNG stores decoded pixels losslessly. Photographic WebP sources often expand after conversion even when width and height stay the same.
Privacy and local processing
- Processing occurs locally in the browser.
- Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools for conversion.
- Converted images remain on your device.
Browser support and limits
- Inputs: WebP only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
- Files must look like real WebP (RIFF/WEBP) and decode successfully.
- Animated WebP: first frame only. No quality slider for PNG output.
- Metadata is not preserved.

WebP to PNG FAQ
- Does PNG preserve transparency?
- Yes when the decoded WebP has alpha. This tool does not paint a white background before PNG encoding.
- Is animation preserved?
- No. Animated WebP files convert only the first frame to PNG. Animation is not preserved.
- Why may the PNG be larger?
- PNG stores decoded pixels losslessly. Photographic WebP files often expand after conversion even when dimensions stay the same.
- Are images uploaded?
- No. WebP to PNG runs locally in your browser and does not upload your image to Looty Tools servers.
- Does PNG improve image quality?
- PNG can store the decoded pixels without further lossy compression, but it cannot restore detail already discarded by WebP encoding.
- Why did the WebP fail to decode?
- The file must look like a real WebP (RIFF/WEBP signature) and decode successfully. Renamed, corrupted, or unsupported variants fail safely.
