Why convert AVIF to JPG

AVIF can be efficient for delivery, but email clients, older apps, and some upload forms still require JPG.

JPEG quality control

The quality slider defaults to 90%. Lower values usually shrink the file and can introduce compression artifacts.

Transparency flattening

Before JPEG encoding, the canvas is filled with white, then the AVIF is drawn on top so transparent pixels become predictable white.

AVIF browser compatibility

If the browser cannot decode the AVIF, you see a clear compatibility error. No file is downloaded and usage is not counted.

Animation limitations

Animated AVIF converts only the first decodable frame to JPG. Animation is not preserved.

Privacy and local processing

• Processing occurs locally in the browser.

Limits

• Inputs: AVIF only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
• Containers must include an avif or avis brand and decode successfully. HEIC-only brands and renamed non-AVIF files are rejected.
• Animated AVIF: first decodable frame only.
• Metadata is not preserved. Browser support varies.

AVIF to JPG FAQ

Do all browsers support AVIF?

No. AVIF decoding varies by browser. If decoding fails, the tool shows a clear compatibility message and does not download a file or count usage.

What happens to transparent pixels?

JPEG has no alpha channel. Transparent pixels are flattened onto a white background painted before the image is drawn.

Can I adjust JPG quality?

Yes. Use the JPEG quality slider (50%–100%, default 90%).

Is animation preserved?

No. Animated AVIF converts only the first decodable frame to JPG. Animation is not supported.

Are images uploaded?

No. AVIF to JPG runs locally in your browser and does not upload your image to Looty Tools servers.

Will JPG be smaller than AVIF?

Not necessarily. File size depends on content and JPEG quality. This tool does not guarantee a smaller output.
