How to split a PDF
- Choose or drag a PDF into the tool.
- Select a Split mode: Extract pages, Split every page, or Split by ranges.
- For Extract pages or Split by ranges, enter the pages or ranges you want (for example 1-5, 8, 10-12).
- Review the selection.
- Select Extract & download or Split & download ZIP, then save the resulting file or files.
Extract or separate PDF pages
- Extract pages into one new PDF with Extract & download.
- Enter page ranges such as 1-5, 8, 10-12.
- Split every page into separate PDFs, downloaded as a ZIP.
- Split by ranges into one PDF per range group, downloaded as a ZIP.
- Preserve original page content without rasterizing it.
- Browser-only processing — files stay on your device.
Private browser-based PDF splitting
PDF splitting runs locally on your device. Your document is not uploaded to Looty Tools, stored on our servers, or sent to an external processing service.
Limits and important notes
- Maximum PDF size is 25 MB.
- Maximum PDF length is 200 pages.
- Extract pages can select up to 100 pages in one output.
- Split by ranges allows up to 50 range groups.
- Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are not supported.
- Page ranges must be valid and within the document. Duplicate, reversed, empty, or out-of-range selections are rejected.
- Digital signatures may become invalid after extracting or splitting.
- Bookmarks, forms, annotations, links, or advanced features may not always be preserved.
- Large PDFs may use more browser memory.
- Page extraction does not perform OCR.

- No. Splitting occurs locally in your browser.
- Can I extract only certain pages?
- Yes. Use Extract pages and enter pages or ranges such as 1-5, 8, 10-12.
- What page-range format can I use?
- Use ranges such as 1-5, 8, 10-12.
- Can I create multiple PDF files?
- Yes. Split every page creates one PDF per page, and Split by ranges creates one PDF per range group. Both download as a ZIP.
- Can I download all split files together?
- Yes. Split every page and Split by ranges download as a ZIP. Extract pages downloads a single PDF.
- Are password-protected PDFs supported?
- No. Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are unsupported.
- Will extracting pages change their quality?
- No rasterization is performed; the original PDF pages are copied into the new document.
- Can I reorder pages while splitting?
- Use Organize PDF when you need page reordering, rotation, duplication, or deletion.
- Will digital signatures remain valid?
- Usually not. Saving extracted or split documents may invalidate digital signatures.
