Use PDF Editor to add text, images, signatures, stamps, checkmarks, dates, initials, drawings, highlights, underline, strikethrough, whiteout, and shapes to an existing PDF. Resize, rotate, copy, cut, paste, or multi-select overlays, change layer order, fill common form fields, optionally save a local draft, then download a flattened copy of overlays (form fields stay editable unless you choose to flatten them).

Your PDF stays on your device and is processed in your browser. It is not uploaded to Looty Tools.

How to edit a PDF

1. Upload the PDF with the file picker or drag and drop.
2. Choose a tool such as text, image, stamp, draw, highlight, whiteout, shape, or signature. On desktop, use page thumbnails to jump between pages.
3. Add, resize, rotate, copy, cut, paste, multi-select, duplicate, or reorder overlays on each page. Fill supported AcroForm text, checkbox, radio, dropdown, and option-list fields when present.
4. Optionally turn on Save draft on this device if you want a local recovery copy (may include form values).
5. Select Download PDF to export. Form fields stay editable by default; optionally flatten them.

Private browser-based PDF editing

Editing runs locally in your browser. Your document, inserted images, clipboard images, and session initials are not uploaded to Looty Tools, stored on our servers, or sent to an external editing service. Annotation content is not saved in analytics. Initials stay in memory for the current editor session only.

Draft saving is optional and off by default. If you opt in, saved drafts may include information entered into PDF form fields. Drafts remain only in the current browser on this device and are never uploaded. Clearing site data removes drafts. Private mode and mobile Safari may reject or evict drafts. Clipboard support varies by browser and may require permission or a user action.

Limits and important notes

• Original PDF text cannot yet be directly rewritten. Editing adds overlays only.
• Whiteout only covers content visually. It does not securely remove the underlying PDF data.
• Added Looty annotations are flattened into the downloaded PDF. Existing AcroForm fields stay editable by default unless you choose Flatten form fields.
• XFA forms, JavaScript/calculation execution, free-text editable combo typing, and digital signature cryptography are not supported. Overlay annotations still work. List fields that use different display and export values may not round-trip perfectly.
• Images are processed locally in the browser (PNG and JPEG only). Large images may increase memory use and output size.
• Rotation and placement may vary slightly with unusual PDF page rotations.
• Optional drafts are limited to about 40 MB, expire after seven days, and stay on this device only.
• Maximum PDF size is 25 MB.
• Maximum PDF length is 50 pages.
• Inserted images are limited to 5 MB each and 20 images per document.
• Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are not supported.
• Complex fonts, forms, encryption, or unusual PDFs may not render perfectly.
• Very large PDFs may be slow on lower-memory devices.

Is the PDF Editor free?

Yes. Looty Tools PDF Editor is free to use in your browser with no account required.

Does my PDF leave my device?

No. Your PDF stays on your device and is processed in your browser. It is not uploaded to Looty Tools servers.

Are inserted images or initials uploaded or stored?

No. PNG and JPEG images and session initials are processed only in your browser. Looty Tools does not upload or store them. Initials are kept in memory for the current editor session only.

Can I save a draft?

Yes, optionally. Draft saving is off by default. If you turn on “Save draft on this device,” the draft may include annotations and information entered into PDF form fields. It stays only in this browser on this device and is never uploaded. Clearing site data removes drafts. Private mode and some mobile browsers may reject or evict drafts.

Can I fill PDF form fields?

Yes for common AcroForm fields: text, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and option lists (including multi-select). XFA forms, calculated/JavaScript field execution, free-text editable combo typing, and cryptographic signatures are not supported. By default, downloads keep fields editable with your values applied. You can optionally flatten form fields. Unusual lists that use different display and export values may not round-trip perfectly.

Can I copy, cut, and paste annotations or images?

Yes. Use Copy, Cut, and Paste in the editor (including on touch devices). You can also paste PNG or JPEG images from the operating-system clipboard where the browser allows it. Clipboard images are processed locally. Clipboard support varies by browser and may require permission or a user action. Clipboard contents are not uploaded and are not kept as a separate saved object.

Can I change existing text inside the PDF?

Not yet. Original PDF text stays read-only. You can add overlays such as text, images, signatures, stamps, drawings, highlights, underline, strikethrough, whiteout, and shapes that are flattened into the download.

What does Whiteout do?

Whiteout only covers content visually. It does not securely remove the underlying PDF data. Anyone with the right tools may still recover covered content from the file.

Can I highlight, underline, or strike through text?

Yes. Use Highlight, Underline, or Strikethrough to mark areas on a page. Highlights keep their transparency when you export.

Can I insert images and rotate annotations?

Yes. Insert PNG or JPEG images locally, and use the rotation handle on supported overlays. Large images can increase memory use and the exported file size. Placement or rotation may vary slightly on PDFs with unusual page rotations.

Can I select and rearrange multiple annotations?

Yes. Use Multi-select or Shift-click, then move, duplicate, copy, cut, paste, delete, or change layer order with Bring forward, Send backward, Bring to front, and Send to back.

Can I add a signature?

Yes. You can type a signature with a standard PDF font or draw one freehand, then place it on any page.

Can I use it on mobile?

Yes. You can upload, navigate pages, add annotations, rotate, multi-select, resize, copy, cut, paste, duplicate, change layer order, undo, redo, and export on mobile browsers. Page thumbnails are desktop-oriented; Previous/Next remain available everywhere. The toolbar scrolls horizontally on narrow screens.

Why does a large PDF take longer?

Page rendering and export run entirely in your browser. Larger files, more pages, inserted images, or complex drawings use more memory and CPU, so they can take longer on lower-powered devices.
