Limits and known issues
- Inputs: HEIC and HEIF only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
- Decoding uses heic2any in the browser. Unusual HEIC variants or older browsers may fail.
- EXIF and other metadata are not preserved in the downloaded WebP. Orientation may still look upright when the browser applies EXIF orientation during decode.
- Multi-image HEIC files may download as multiple WebPs or a ZIP.
- Older browsers that cannot encode WebP show a clear error instead of a mislabeled download.

- Yes. This converter accepts .heic and .heif files. Files that are not valid HEIC/HEIF containers are rejected after content checks.
- Are my photos uploaded?

- Will photo quality change?
- WebP uses lossy compression. The default quality is high (90%), and you can adjust the WebP quality slider.
- Is transparency preserved?
- When the HEIC decoder supplies an alpha channel and the browser WebP encoder supports it, transparency is kept. This tool does not paint a white background before encoding WebP.
- What happens with multi-image HEIC files?
- Multi-image HEIC containers download as multiple WebP files, or as a single ZIP archive when there is more than one image — the same behavior used by HEIC to JPG and HEIC to PNG.
- What if my browser cannot produce a real WebP file?
