Only the first page converts
TIFF files can store multiple pages or images in one container. This tool decodes and converts only the first page (the first IFD). If your TIFF has more than one page, the remaining pages are not converted, extracted, or zipped in this version of the tool.
Compatibility and quality
JPG is lossy. Raising quality keeps more detail and usually increases file size. Transparent or partially transparent pixels are flattened onto white because JPEG has no alpha channel — the same convention used by every other JPEG output tool on Looty Tools.
Privacy and local processing

Limits and known issues
- Inputs: TIFF (.tif, .tiff) only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
- Multi-page TIFF files: only the first page is converted. Additional pages are not extracted or included in the download.
- Decoding uses a browser-side TIFF library. Unusual compression schemes or corrupted files may fail.
- EXIF and other metadata are not preserved in the downloaded JPG.

- Can I convert multi-page TIFF files?
- Only the first page (the first IFD) of a TIFF file is converted. Additional pages are not extracted, converted, or included in the download. Support for converting every page may be added later.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. Conversion runs locally in your browser using the TIFF decoding library already used elsewhere on Looty Tools. Your file is not uploaded to Looty Tools servers for this workflow.
- What happens to transparency?
- Transparent or partially transparent pixels are flattened onto a white background, because JPEG has no alpha channel. This matches the white-background convention used by every other JPEG output tool on Looty Tools.
- Will image quality change?
- JPEG uses lossy compression. The default quality is high (90%), and you can adjust the JPEG quality slider before converting.
- What TIFF files are accepted?
- Files with a .tif or .tiff extension and a valid TIFF byte-order header (little-endian "II" or big-endian "MM") are accepted. Renamed or corrupted files are rejected before decoding.
- Why did decoding fail?
- Some uncommon TIFF compression schemes or corrupted files cannot be decoded by the browser-side TIFF library. Try re-exporting the file, or use image editing software that supports the specific TIFF variant.
