How to generate Lorem Ipsum

Limitations

• Up to 20 paragraphs, 100 sentences, or 1,000 words at a time; larger amounts are reduced to the limit. Copy several batches if you need more.
• The output is plain text. HTML tags such as <p> are not added.
• The text is Latin-like filler only; it is not meaningful in any language and should be replaced before publishing.

How much text can I generate?

1 to 20 paragraphs, 1 to 100 sentences, or 1 to 1,000 words at a time. Numbers outside those ranges are adjusted to the nearest limit, so the page never has to display an enormous block of text.

What does “Start with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…” do?

It opens the text with the traditional first sentence, which makes it obvious to anyone reviewing the layout that the text is placeholder. Turn it off for text that starts at a random point.

Is the text real Latin?

Not quite. Lorem Ipsum comes from a passage by Cicero, but the words are scrambled and altered, so it looks like Latin without saying anything — which is exactly why it works as filler.

How are paragraphs and sentences built?

Each sentence has 6 to 14 words, starts with a capital letter, and ends with a full stop, sometimes with a comma in the middle. Each paragraph has 3 to 6 sentences, and paragraphs are separated by a blank line.

Why does Regenerate give different text?

Each Regenerate picks new random words and sentence lengths, so you can try several versions of the same amount to see how a layout copes with different line breaks.

Does the generator need an internet connection or send anything?

No. The text is generated by your browser, and nothing you choose or generate is sent to Looty Tools.

Can I use Lorem Ipsum in a finished page?

It is meant only for drafts and mockups. Replace it with real copy before publishing, because placeholder text says nothing to readers or search engines.
