Get the numbers without retyping them
Numbers are often buried in sentences: prices in an invoice email, measurements in a report, scores in a chat log, or IDs in a list of notes. Paste the text or upload a document and every number is pulled out and listed on its own line, in the order it appears, so it can go straight into a spreadsheet or calculator. Values are kept exactly as written and nothing is added up or rounded.
How to extract numbers from text
- Paste your text, or choose Upload Document to open a .txt, .md, .docx, or .pdf file.
- The numbers appear below, one per line, with counts of numbers found, unique numbers, and repeated values.
- Turn on “Keep % and currency symbols” or “Remove duplicate numbers” if you need them, then choose Copy Result.
What counts as a number
- Whole numbers, signed numbers such as -42 and +42, and decimals such as 3.14 or .75.
- Thousands separators in the 1,250 and 1,250.50 style keep the number together.
- A minus sign counts only when it is not attached to the end of a number or a word, so the range 10-20 gives 10 and 20, and COVID-19 gives 19.
- Dates, phone numbers, version numbers, and IP addresses split into their separate numbers — this is a number finder, not a date or phone parser.
- Repeated numbers are kept unless you choose to remove them.

Your text stays on your device
- Numbers are found by JavaScript running in your browser.
- Your text — and the numbers in it — are never uploaded to Looty Tools or any other server.
- Nothing is stored — refreshing or closing the page clears both boxes.
- Uploaded documents are opened and read in your browser; the file itself is never sent to Looty Tools.
Limitations
- Uploads accept .txt and .md files up to 5 MB, Word .docx files up to 15 MB, and PDFs up to 25 MB and 50 pages. Older .doc files are not supported, and scanned or image-only PDFs have no text to use.
- Decimal commas (3,14) and spaces used as thousands separators (1 250) are read as separate numbers.
- Scientific notation such as 1e5 gives 1 and 5, and fractions such as 1/2 give 1 and 2.
- Only the digits 0–9 are recognized; numbers written in words (“twelve”) or in other digit systems are not found.
- Letters around a number are ignored, so H2O gives 2 and 3rd gives 3.

Extract Numbers FAQ
- Which number formats are found?
- Whole numbers (42), signed numbers (-42, +42), decimals (3.14, .75), numbers with thousands separators (1,250 and 1,250.50), and numbers next to % or a currency symbol ($49.99, 25%).
- Are the numbers changed or added up?
- No. Each number is listed exactly as it appears — 1,250 keeps its comma and 09 keeps its leading zero — and nothing is calculated.
- What happens to dates, phone numbers, and version numbers?
- They are split into their separate numbers: 09/27/2026 gives 09, 27, and 2026; 555-123-4567 gives 555, 123, and 4567; version 2.0.24 gives 2, 0, and 24. The tool finds numbers, it does not interpret dates or phone numbers.
- Is 10-20 read as a negative number?
- No. A minus sign only counts when it is not attached to the end of a number or a word, so 10-20 gives 10 and 20 and COVID-19 gives 19, while “−5 °C” or “(-5)” keeps the minus.
- Why are repeated numbers kept?
- Repeats often matter — the same price or score appearing twice is real information. Turn on “Remove duplicate numbers” to keep only the first of each value.
- Can I keep the % and currency symbols?
- Yes. By default only the number is listed, so the results paste cleanly into a spreadsheet; turn on “Keep % and currency symbols” to list $49.99 and 25% as written.
- Can I upload a Word document or PDF instead of pasting?
- Yes. Upload Document accepts .txt, .md, Word .docx, and text-based .pdf files, or you can drop a file onto the text box. The file is read in your browser — it is not sent to Looty Tools — and its text replaces whatever is in the box. Scanned PDFs without a text layer and older .doc files are not supported.
- Is my text uploaded?
- No. Numbers are found in your browser; your text is never sent to Looty Tools or saved.
