Rotate PDF: Selected Pages vs the Entire Document
Rotate PDF supports two different workflows — rotating everything at once, and rotating just the pages that need it — and they use the same selection and bulk-rotate controls. This guide explains how to choose the right one and how the two modes interact.

Rotating the entire document
To rotate every page the same way, use Select all, then choose a bulk rotate button (90° clockwise, 90° counterclockwise, or 180°). Because the bulk rotate buttons apply to the current selection — or to every page when nothing is selected — Select all plus a bulk action is a deliberate, explicit way to rotate the whole document in one step.
This is the right workflow when an entire PDF was scanned or exported in the wrong orientation, so every page needs the same correction.
Rotating only specific pages
To rotate a subset, check only the pages that need it and use a bulk rotate button — it applies solely to your selection, leaving every unchecked page exactly as it was. For a single page, skip selection entirely and use that page’s own Rotate left / Rotate right / Rotate 180° buttons.
This matters for documents assembled from multiple sources, where most pages are already correctly oriented and only a few need fixing.
How selection and bulk actions interact
Selection only affects the three bulk rotate buttons. A page’s own individual rotate buttons always act on that single page regardless of whether it, or any other page, is selected.

- If I select nothing, what happens when I click a bulk rotate button?
- It rotates every page in the document — this is the intended way to rotate the whole file at once.
- Does selecting a page also rotate it?
- No. Selecting only marks a page for the next bulk action; you still choose a rotation direction separately.
- Can I mix individual and bulk rotation on the same file?
- Yes. Use individual per-page buttons for one-off fixes and bulk actions with a selection for groups of pages — they can be combined freely before exporting.
- Does Select all also select pages I already rotated?
- Yes. Select all selects every page regardless of its current rotation, so a subsequent bulk action applies to all of them.
- How do I clear a selection without rotating anything?
- Use Select none. It clears every checkbox and does not change any page’s rotation.
