Weekend Pay Premium Calculator calculates in your browser.
Separate your weekend premium from your normal earnings
Retail, hospitality, healthcare, and call-center jobs often pay extra for Saturday and Sunday hours. This calculator splits weekend pay into the part you would have earned at your base rate and the premium on top, so you can see exactly what the weekend adds. The premium can be a percentage, a flat amount per hour, or both together — for example 10% plus $1.00 an hour. Add your weekday hours if you want the whole week in one total, with the average rate across every hour. No weekend rate is assumed: enter the premium your employer uses.
How to use the Weekend Pay Premium Calculator
- Type your base hourly rate and your weekend hours.
- Choose % of base rate, $ per hour, or Both % and $, and type the premium.
- Optionally, type your weekday hours to include them at the base rate.
- Read total earnings, normal earnings, the weekend premium, and the effective weekend rate — plus the average rate across all hours when weekday hours are included.
The formula
Weekend premium per hour = base rate × % ÷ 100 + flat amount
Weekend premium = premium per hour × weekend hours
Normal earnings = base rate × (weekend hours + weekday hours)
Total earnings = normal earnings + weekend premium
A premium stated as a multiplier converts directly: time-and-a-half (1.5 ×) is a 50% premium, and double time (2 ×) is a 100% premium. The calculator mentions the match when you enter 50% or 100%, but it never assumes weekend hours are paid at either.
| Hours and rates | Weekend premium | Total earnings |
|---|---|---|
| 16 h at $17.35 + 15% | $41.64 | $319.24 |
| 12 h at $20.00 + $2.00/hr | $24.00 | $264.00 |
| 16 h at $20.00 + 10% + $1.00/hr | $48.00 | $368.00 |
| 8 h at $26.40 + 50% | $105.60 | $316.80 |
| 16 h at $22.00 + 20% + 24 h weekdays | $70.40 | $950.40 |

Limitations
- These calculations estimate pay from the rates and hours you enter. They do not account for overtime rules, taxes, deductions, employer policies, union agreements, or other payroll rules.
- It doesn’t assume weekends earn time-and-a-half, double time, or any other rate, and it doesn’t decide whether a premium is owed.
- One premium for all weekend hours. If Saturday and Sunday are paid differently, calculate each day separately and add them.
- Base rates up to $10,000 an hour, up to 10,000 hours in each box, and percentages up to 500%.
- The $ is a display label; the math is the same in any currency.

Weekend Pay Premium Calculator FAQ
- How do I calculate weekend premium pay?
- Turn the premium into dollars per hour, then multiply by your weekend hours. At $17.35 an hour with a 15% weekend premium, the premium is $2.6025 an hour; over 16 weekend hours that is $41.64, on top of $277.60 at the base rate — $319.24 in all.
- Is time-and-a-half the same as a 50% weekend premium?
- In the arithmetic, yes: 1.5 × the base rate is the base rate plus a 50% premium, and double time is a 100% premium. The calculator doesn’t assume weekends are paid at either — enter whatever premium your employer actually uses.
- Can I enter a percentage and a dollar amount together?
- Yes. Choose "Both % and $" when a weekend premium has two parts, such as 10% plus $1.00 an hour. At a $20.00 base rate that is $3.00 an hour extra.
- What are weekday hours for?
- They’re optional. Add the hours you work at the base rate in the same week or pay period, and the calculator includes them in normal earnings and shows the average hourly rate across all hours. 16 weekend hours at $20.00 with a $3.00 premium plus 24 weekday hours comes to $848.00, an average of $21.20 an hour.
- What if Saturday and Sunday have different premiums?
- Work out each day separately — Saturday’s hours with Saturday’s premium, then Sunday’s — and add the two premiums together. The calculator handles one premium at a time.
- Does it include overtime, taxes, or deductions?
- No. These calculations estimate pay from the rates and hours you enter. They do not account for overtime rules, taxes, deductions, employer policies, union agreements, or other payroll rules.
- Are the amounts I enter sent anywhere?
- No. The calculation runs in your browser as you type. The amounts, rates, and results are not sent to Looty Tools or stored, and the calculator area is masked from session-recording analytics. Refreshing the page clears it.
