Turn a PDF into an editable Rich Text Format (.rtf) document you can open in Word, LibreOffice, or TextEdit. This is a best-effort conversion, similar in philosophy to our PDF to Word tool — not a pixel-perfect reproduction. Everything runs locally so your file stays on your device.
How to convert PDF to RTF

- Download the resulting .rtf document.
What gets preserved
- Extracted text with paragraph and line grouping.
- Headings inferred from font size and layout.
- Simple tables, using the same detection as PDF to Word.
- Page breaks between original PDF pages.
Browser privacy
- Processing occurs locally in the browser.
- Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools.
- Conversion results remain on your device.
Limits
- Bold, italic, and text alignment from the source PDF are not preserved — the underlying extraction does not capture run-level formatting or alignment.
- Maximum 50 pages per PDF.
- Scanned or image-only PDFs are detected and rejected — this tool does not perform OCR.
- Formatting is best-effort: this is not a pixel-perfect reproduction of the source PDF.

- Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
- No. Conversion runs locally in the browser. Your PDF is not uploaded to Looty Tools.
- Does this tool reproduce the PDF exactly?
- No — this is a best-effort, editable-document conversion, similar in philosophy to our PDF to Word tool. It is not expected to reproduce arbitrary PDF layouts pixel-for-pixel.
- What does the tool preserve?
- Extracted text, paragraph and line grouping, inferred headings, simple table structure, and page breaks — using the same extraction and table-detection engine as PDF to Word.
- Does it preserve bold, italic, or text alignment?
- No. The underlying text extraction does not capture run-level bold/italic emphasis or paragraph alignment from the source PDF, so those are not carried into the RTF output. This is the same limitation PDF to Word has today.
- Does this tool support scanned or image-only PDFs?
- No. Scanned/image-based PDFs with no extractable text are detected and rejected with a clear message rather than producing an empty file. OCR is not supported.
- Will the RTF file open in Word, LibreOffice, and TextEdit?
- It should. The output is a standards-compliant RTF document with proper escaping and Unicode handling, designed to open in any RTF-compatible word processor, including Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, and Apple TextEdit.
