What AVIF to PDF conversion does
Convert an AVIF image into a single-page PDF directly in your browser, with configurable page size, orientation, fit, and margins. Most PDF viewers, filing systems, and print-to-PDF pipelines can't embed or display AVIF directly, so this decodes the image and places it on a standard page instead.
How to convert AVIF to PDF
- Choose a AVIF file.
- Pick a page size, orientation, fit, and margin.
- Select Convert & download.
- Save the .pdf file from your browser downloads.
Why use this conversion
Use this when the image needs to live inside a portable, printable document rather than a raw AVIF — for sharing, filing, or printing in contexts where a document format is expected and AVIF, as an image codec, isn't accepted.
Transparency and output quality
The image is embedded in the PDF as PNG data, so alpha carried in the source AVIF is preserved inside the document rather than flattened. The embedded image uses PNG compression; overall PDF size depends mainly on the image content and the page size and margins you choose, not on how efficiently the source AVIF itself was compressed.
Privacy and local processing
- Processing occurs locally in the browser.
- Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools for conversion.
- Converted files remain on your device.
Limits and known issues
- Input: AVIF (.avif) only, up to 25.0 MB and 8,192 px per side.
- This tool places exactly one image on one PDF page. For combining several images into one multi-page PDF, use the dedicated Images to PDF tool.
- If the source AVIF is animated, only its first frame is placed on the page; the rest of the animation is discarded. Most AVIF files are static, so this only affects the less common animated (AVIS) profile.
- Metadata is not preserved in the downloaded file.

AVIF to PDF FAQ
- Why convert AVIF to PDF?
- PDF is a portable, universally readable document format, and most PDF viewers, filing systems, and print-to-PDF pipelines can't embed or open an AVIF directly. Converting puts the image on a standard page any PDF reader can open.
- Does PDF output keep transparency?
- The image is embedded as PNG data, so alpha carried in the source AVIF is preserved inside the document rather than flattened.
- Can I combine multiple images into one PDF?
- This tool places exactly one image on one PDF page. Use the dedicated Images to PDF tool to combine several images into one multi-page PDF.
- What happens if the source AVIF is animated?
- Only the first decodable frame is placed on the page; the rest of the animation is discarded. Most AVIF files are static single images, so this only affects the less common animated (AVIS) profile — and AVIF decoding also depends on your browser's support.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. Conversion runs locally in your browser and does not upload your file to Looty Tools servers.
- What is validated before conversion?
- The file must actually be an AVIF — the tool checks the ISO-BMFF ftyp brand, not just the filename or extension, before decoding.
