How to use the Area Converter

The method
result = value × (square meters per From unit) ÷ (square meters per To unit)

An area unit is a length unit squared, so its conversion factor is the length factor squared. A foot is 0.3048 meters, so a square foot is 0.3048 × 0.3048 = 0.09290304 square meters — which is why a square meter is about 10.76 square feet, not 3.28. Acres and hectares are defined from these: an acre is exactly 43,560 square feet and a hectare exactly 10,000 square meters.

- How big is a hectare compared with an acre?
