Convert weights between metric and US or imperial units

Three different “tons” are included and labelled — the metric tonne, the US short ton, and the UK long ton — so they are never confused.
How to use the Weight Converter
- Type the weight to convert. Decimals, thousands separators such as 1,250, and negative values are accepted.
- Choose the unit you are converting from and the unit you are converting to. Swap units flips them and keeps your value.

Everyday “weight” units are really units of mass, and all of them are defined exactly. The international pound has been exactly 0.45359237 kilograms since 1959, and the ounce, stone, US short ton, and UK long ton are fixed fractions or multiples of the pound. The converter keeps full precision and rounds only the displayed result to 10 significant digits.

Limitations
- It converts mass units, which is what “weight” means in everyday use; it doesn’t work out weight on other planets or in newtons.
- Ounces are avoirdupois ounces, not the troy ounces used for precious metals.
- It can’t convert between weight and volume, such as cups of flour to grams, because that depends on the ingredient.
- Negative values are converted as ordinary arithmetic, which suits a change in weight rather than an object’s weight.
