Convert PDF tables to an editable Excel spreadsheet

Pull tables and data out of a PDF into a real, editable .xlsx workbook. Everything runs locally so your file stays on your device.

How to convert PDF to Excel

  1. Choose or drop a PDF file.
  2. The tool checks the PDF has real, extractable text.
  3. Convert to Excel.
  4. Download the resulting .xlsx workbook.

What gets reconstructed

  • Regularly-gridded tables as real worksheet rows and columns (best-effort), each on its own sheet.
  • A table that continues across a page break is merged into one sheet only when the columns clearly line up.
  • Unambiguous numbers, currency amounts, and dates as real numeric/date cells — not just text.
  • Pages with text but no detected table as a fallback text sheet, so output is never silently empty.

Browser privacy

  • Processing occurs locally in the browser.
  • Files are not uploaded to Looty Tools.
  • Conversion results remain on your device.

Limits

  • Maximum file size is 25 MB, up to 50 pages.
  • Scanned or image-only PDFs have no extractable text. If the whole document is scanned it is rejected with a clear message; if only some pages are scanned, those pages are skipped and noted while the rest still converts — this tool does not perform OCR.
  • Table detection is best-effort: irregular, merged-cell, or loosely-aligned tables may come through as plain text instead of a structured table.
  • A few value types are deliberately kept as text instead of guessed — percentages, leading-zero codes like ZIP codes, long ID/account numbers, and locale-ambiguous slash-formatted dates.

PDF to Excel FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs locally in the browser. Your PDF is not uploaded to Looty Tools.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
No, not for the scanned pages. If a whole PDF is scanned/image-only it is rejected with a clear message. If only some pages are scanned, the tool extracts what it can from the text pages and notes which pages were skipped. This tool does not perform OCR.
How are tables detected?
The tool looks for regularly-gridded regions of text on each page and reconstructs them as real spreadsheet rows and columns on a best-effort basis. A table split across two pages is merged into one sheet only when the columns clearly line up.
Are numbers and dates kept as real values?
Unambiguous numbers, currency amounts, and dates (like ISO or month-name dates) are converted to real numeric/date cells. Anything that could lose meaning if converted — percentages, leading-zero codes like ZIP codes, long ID numbers, and locale-ambiguous slash dates — is kept as text to avoid a silently wrong value.
What happens if my PDF has no tables?
Pages without a detected table still produce a sheet containing the extracted text, so the output is never empty for a PDF that has real text.
What is the maximum PDF size?
The maximum file size is 25 MB, with up to 50 pages.
