How to Fill Out a PDF Form Online (Free, Private)
If your PDF has real, clickable form fields, you can fill it in and download the completed form without printing it. This guide shows the steps with Fill PDF Forms and what to check before you send the result.

Check that your form has fillable fields
Fill PDF Forms works on PDFs that already contain interactive fields. When you choose a file, the tool looks for them and tells you plainly if there are none. A form that only looks like a form — lines and boxes drawn on the page — has nothing to type into and cannot be filled by this tool.
Filling the form
- Choose or drag in the PDF. Files up to 25 MB and 200 pages are supported.
- The tool shows each page with its fields ready to use. Use Previous page and Next page to move through a longer form.
- Type into text fields, tick checkboxes, choose radio buttons, and pick options from dropdowns.
- Select Download completed PDF. Your entries are written into the form and read back to confirm they were stored before the download starts.
What the download contains
- The completed PDF is still an interactive form. You can reopen it and change an answer later.
- Only the fields you changed are written; the rest of the form is left as it was.
- Signature fields, push buttons and read-only fields are not touched.
- Calculations and scripts built into the form do not run, so check any totals yourself.
Before you send it
- Open the downloaded file in your usual PDF viewer and check that every answer shows.
- If the form has required fields, check none were left blank. The tool warns you, but it does not stop you.
- If the recipient needs the answers locked, print the completed PDF to a new PDF from your viewer.
Privacy
The form is read, filled and saved in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded to Looty Tools, which matters when a form asks for personal or financial details.
How to Fill Out a PDF Form FAQ
- Can I sign the form with this tool?
- No. It fills form fields only. It does not create digital signatures, and signature fields are left as they are.
- Why can’t I type into my form?
- It probably has no interactive fields, or it is an XFA form, which is not supported. The tool tells you which.
- Will my answers show in every PDF viewer?
- The saved form includes the appearance of the answers you entered, so they should show in standard viewers. Open it in the viewer your recipient uses if that matters.
- What if my text does not fit or uses special characters?
- Text longer than a field’s maximum length, or characters the field’s font cannot encode, is rejected with an explanation rather than saved incorrectly.
- Does the tool flatten the form?
- No. The completed PDF stays editable. Print to a new PDF from your viewer if you need the answers locked.
