How to Convert PDF to Word Online
Sometimes you need to edit a PDF’s text, and the easiest path is turning it into a Word document first. The Looty Tools PDF to Word converter extracts text from a PDF and rebuilds it as an editable .docx file, entirely in your browser. This guide covers the steps, what gets reconstructed, and the key limits.

When this tool helps
PDF to Word works on text-based PDFs — documents that were created digitally (from Word, Google Docs, a website export, and similar) and still contain real, extractable text. It is not built for scanned paper documents; see /guides/pdf-to-word-scanned-pdf-limitations for that case.
How to convert PDF to Word on Looty Tools
- Open the PDF to Word tool at /tools/pdf-to-word.
- Choose or drop a PDF file.
- The tool checks the PDF for extractable text before offering to convert.
- Select Convert to Word.
- Download the resulting .docx file.
What gets reconstructed
- Paragraphs, grouped from the PDF’s underlying text positions.
- Headings, detected from larger, isolated lines of text.
- Simple, regularly-gridded tables, rebuilt as real Word tables on a best-effort basis (see /guides/pdf-to-word-table-reconstruction-explained).
- Reading order down each page.
Limits
- Maximum file size: 25 MB.
- Maximum pages: 50.
- Scanned or image-only PDFs are rejected — this tool does not perform OCR.
How to Convert PDF to Word FAQ
- What kind of PDFs does this work on?
- Text-based PDFs that already contain real, extractable text — for example documents exported from Word, Google Docs, or a website.
- Does it work on scanned documents?
- No. Scanned or image-only PDFs have no extractable text and are detected and rejected with a clear message. See /guides/pdf-to-word-scanned-pdf-limitations.
- Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
- No. Conversion runs locally in the browser, so the PDF is not uploaded to Looty Tools.
- What is the maximum PDF size?
- The maximum file size is 25 MB, with up to 50 pages.
- Are tables preserved?
- Simple, regularly-gridded tables are reconstructed as real Word tables on a best-effort basis. Irregular or merged-cell tables may come through as plain text.
- Can I edit the Word document afterward?
- Yes. The output is a standard .docx file you can open and edit in Word, Google Docs, or any compatible editor.
