How to Convert Excel Spreadsheets to PDF in Your Browser

What Excel to PDF is for

Many people need a PDF snapshot of spreadsheet values—not an editable workbook and not a perfect print replica of every Excel theme. A tabular PDF keeps numbers and labels in a stable document that opens almost anywhere.

Looty Tools builds that PDF from cell display values with a basic grid. It is designed for readable exports of data tables, not for reproducing charts, images, or Excel’s exact print layout.

Supported inputs and hard limits

Use XLSX or XLS files up to 10 MB. Macro-enabled XLSM files are not supported in the first release. Workbooks may include up to 20 worksheets. Each selected sheet is capped at 50 columns and 5,000 rows, selected sheets together may include up to 100,000 cells, and the PDF may include up to 100 pages.

• Hidden worksheets are excluded from selection.
• Password-protected workbooks are not supported.

How to convert on Looty Tools

Each selected worksheet starts on a new PDF page. Long sheets continue vertically across additional pages. Wide sheets can be scaled to fit the page width when that option is enabled.

1. Open Excel to PDF at /tools/excel-to-pdf.
2. Choose or drop an XLSX or XLS file.
3. Review the filename, size, and visible worksheet list.
4. Select the worksheets to include (all visible sheets are selected by default).
5. Choose Letter or A4, set orientation (Auto, Portrait, or Landscape), and decide whether to fit worksheet width to the page.
6. Select Convert to PDF to generate and download the file.

Formatting expectations

The PDF includes cell display values when available, including stored number, currency, percentage, and date formatting. Merged cells are honored where the used range allows. Formulas are not recalculated—only cached values are used when present.

Do not expect Excel theme fonts, cell fill colors, advanced borders, charts, images, shapes, conditional formatting, sparklines, print areas, freeze panes, or embedded objects. If you need Excel’s native print output, export from Excel or another desktop spreadsheet app instead.

Privacy

Parsing and PDF generation run locally in your browser. Spreadsheet contents are not uploaded to Looty Tools for this workflow. Macros, scripts, and formulas are not executed as code.

Common mistakes

Choosing a huge workbook that exceeds row, column, cell, or page limits will fail with a clear error—trim the used range or split the workbook first. Sending an XLSM file will be rejected until macro-enabled support is added. Expecting pixel-perfect Excel print fidelity will disappoint; plan for a clean data table PDF instead.
