How to Fix Text Typed in All Caps
Text in all capitals turns up in forwarded emails, form submissions, database exports, and anything typed with Caps Lock on. Retyping it is slow, but converting it automatically needs a little care, because capitals carry information — names, acronyms, and sentence starts — that a simple conversion cannot always recover. Where all-caps text comes from
- Caps Lock left on while typing.
- Forms and systems that store or display entries in capitals, so names and addresses come out uppercase.

Choose the target style
- Sentence case for paragraphs, messages, and descriptions: only the first word of each sentence (and “I”) is capitalized.

What a converter cannot recover
Once text is all capitals, the original capitalization is gone. A converter turning “MEETING WITH SARAH IN PARIS ON FRIDAY” into sentence case produces “Meeting with sarah in paris on friday” — correct rules, but the names need fixing.
Acronyms suffer the same way: in fully capitalized text, NASA looks like any other word and is lowercased with the rest.
